All references to “we,” “us,” “our,” and “the store” below mean the Seller, Leafle Monstas Inc.

These policies apply to purchases made through our official store, including digital editions, supporter copies, collector editions, print-on-demand books, and related literary products.

By placing an order, you agree to the policies below. Nothing in these policies removes or limits any right you have under applicable consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

## 1. Store Identity

This store sells literary works, digital books, print-on-demand books, author materials, and related products connected to *The Door Was Always Half-Open* by T. L. Le.

This is an independent author store operated by the Seller. Products may be fulfilled directly through this store, through Gumroad, through Lulu, or through another approved fulfillment partner.

## 2. Product Types

The store may sell the following:

1. Digital books, including PDF, EPUB, or other downloadable formats.
1. Print-on-demand books.
1. Supporter copies.
1. Collector or special editions.
1. Author notes, printable inserts, bonus materials, or companion files.
1. Bundles containing both digital and physical products.
1. Limited-time campaign products.

Each product page will describe what is included. Please read the product description carefully before purchasing.

## 3. Digital Product Policy

Digital products are delivered electronically.

After purchase, customers will receive access to download the file through the checkout platform, email receipt, or customer account page.

Because digital files are delivered immediately or shortly after purchase, all digital product sales are generally final.

Digital products may not be returned, exchanged, resold, shared publicly, uploaded to file-sharing sites, distributed in groups, or used for commercial reproduction without written permission.

**Statutory withdrawal rights.** Where you have a statutory right to cancel or withdraw from a digital purchase — for example, certain consumers in the EU or UK — that right normally ends once download or access begins. By purchasing a digital product and choosing immediate access, you request immediate performance and acknowledge that you may lose any statutory cancellation right once the download or access begins. This does not affect rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

If you experience a technical issue accessing your digital product, contact us at [Hello@thehalfopendoor.com](mailto:Hello@thehalfopendoor.com). We will make a reasonable effort to help you access your purchase.

## 4. Print-on-Demand Policy

Physical books are printed on demand. This means each copy is produced after an order is placed.

Because print-on-demand products are custom manufactured for each order, we do not accept returns or exchanges for buyer’s remorse, accidental orders, wrong address entry, delayed delivery outside our control, or a change of mind.

Please review your order details carefully before submitting payment.

If a book arrives damaged, misprinted, defective, or materially different from what was ordered, contact us within 7 days of delivery with:

- Order number
- Full name used on the order
- Delivery address
- Photos of the damage or defect
- Photos of the packaging, if relevant

If the issue is confirmed, we will seek a resolution — typically a reprint, replacement, or refund — in accordance with the rules and process of the fulfillment partner that produced the item. For print-on-demand titles, this is usually the printer’s defect-resolution process, and the available options and timelines depend on that partner.

## 5. Refund Policy

**Digital products**

Digital products are non-refundable once delivered, except where required by law or where we determine there was a duplicate purchase, a file access issue that cannot be resolved, or a clear technical error.

**Print products**

Print-on-demand books are non-refundable and non-returnable unless they arrive damaged, defective, misprinted, or incorrect.

**Supporter copies**

Supporter copies are voluntary higher-support purchases. They include the same core product as the standard edition unless otherwise stated. Because they are intended as a support-based purchase, supporter copies are generally non-refundable once delivered.

**Duplicate orders**

If you accidentally purchase the same digital product more than once, contact us within 48 hours. We may refund the duplicate order at our discretion if the duplicate purchase is clear and no abuse is suspected.

**Your statutory rights**

The terms above do not limit or waive any non-waivable rights you have under applicable consumer protection law. For example, consumers in Ontario may have statutory cancellation rights for internet agreements in certain circumstances — such as where required information was not disclosed, or where goods are not delivered within the timeframes set by law — regardless of the final-sale terms in this section.

**Chargebacks and disputes**

Please contact us before opening a payment dispute. We want to resolve legitimate problems quickly. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in blocked future purchases.

## 6. Cancellation Policy

Digital orders usually cannot be cancelled after the file has been delivered.

Print-on-demand orders usually cannot be cancelled once production has started.

If you made an error, contact us as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee cancellation, but we will try to help if the order has not yet entered fulfillment.

## 7. Shipping Policy

Shipping applies only to physical products.

Shipping times vary depending on destination, print production time, carrier delays, customs processing, and fulfillment partner availability.

Estimated shipping timelines are estimates only and are not guaranteed.

Customers are responsible for entering a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout.

We are not responsible for failed delivery caused by:

- Incorrect address
- Missing apartment or unit number
- Customer refusal of delivery
- Failure to collect a package
- Carrier access issues
- Customs delays
- Local postal disruptions

If a package is returned due to an incorrect or incomplete address, the customer may be responsible for the cost of replacement shipping.

## 8. International Orders

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, or local charges imposed by their country.

These charges are not controlled by the store and may not be included in the product price or shipping fee unless clearly stated at checkout.

We are not responsible for customs delays.

## 9. Delivery Issues

If tracking shows that a package was delivered but you did not receive it, please first check:

- Mailbox
- Front desk or concierge
- Parcel locker
- Neighbouring address
- Local post office
- Building mailroom
- Household members

If the package still cannot be located, contact the carrier and then contact us with your order number.

We cannot guarantee replacement for packages marked delivered, but we will review the situation in good faith.

## 10. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If you receive a damaged, defective, misprinted, or incorrect item, contact us within 7 days of delivery.

Your claim must include clear photos showing the issue.

Eligible issues may include:

- Torn or unreadable pages
- Binding defect
- Severe cover damage
- Printing error
- Wrong book or wrong edition
- Major manufacturing defect

Minor print variation, slight colour difference, or normal production variation may not qualify as a defect.

## 11. Content Notice

Products sold through this store may contain mature literary material, including themes related to family, grief, sexuality, desire, exile, relationship harm, death, identity, and emotional distress.

The work is intended for mature readers.

The book is a memoir and literary work. It is not medical, legal, financial, therapeutic, or crisis advice.

Reader discretion is advised.

## 12. Intellectual Property Policy

All writing, book design, excerpts, product images, author notes, digital files, brand materials, and related content are protected by copyright unless otherwise stated.

Purchasing a digital or physical product gives the buyer personal use access only. It does not transfer copyright or commercial rights.

Customers may not:

- Reproduce the book
- Upload the file publicly
- Share paid files with others
- Resell digital copies
- Create derivative works for sale
- Use excerpts commercially without permission
- Train AI systems on the text or files
- Remove copyright notices or watermarks
- Repackage the content as their own

Short quotations may be used for personal review, commentary, or reader response, provided they are properly attributed and do not reproduce a substantial portion of the work.

For permissions, contact [Hello@thehalfopendoor.com](mailto:Hello@thehalfopendoor.com).

## 13. Review and Excerpt Policy

Readers are welcome to share brief quotes, reactions, and reviews.

When sharing excerpts publicly, please credit:

*The Door Was Always Half-Open* by T. L. Le

Do not share full chapters, full digital files, or large portions of the book.

The store may request permission before reposting reader comments, reviews, or social media posts.

- Customer support messages
- Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, and site usage data

Payment information is processed by third-party payment processors and ecommerce platforms. We do not intentionally store full credit card numbers on our own systems.

We may use personal information to:

- Process and fulfill orders
- Send order confirmations
- Deliver digital products
- Arrange print fulfillment
- Respond to customer support requests
- Prevent fraud or abuse
- Send store updates, if the customer has opted in
- Comply with tax, accounting, legal, or regulatory requirements

We do not sell customer personal information.

We may share necessary information with service providers such as payment processors, ecommerce platforms, fulfillment partners, email providers, analytics tools, fraud prevention providers, and professional advisors.

Customers may contact us at [Hello@thehalfopendoor.com](mailto:Hello@thehalfopendoor.com) to request access, correction, or deletion of their personal information, subject to legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and operational retention requirements.

## 15. Email and Marketing Policy

Customers may receive transactional emails related to their purchase, including order confirmations, download links, shipping updates, support replies, and refund or replacement communications.

Marketing emails will only be sent where permitted by law and where the customer has opted in or otherwise provided consent.

Customers may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not stop necessary transactional emails related to active purchases.

## 16. Cookies and Analytics

The store may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, remember preferences, process checkout, analyze traffic, prevent fraud, and improve the shopping experience.

Third-party platforms such as Shopify, Gumroad, payment processors, analytics providers, or advertising platforms may also use cookies according to their own policies.

Customers can adjust cookie settings through their browser, but some store functions may not work correctly if cookies are disabled.

## 17. Payments

Payments are processed through approved third-party payment providers.

Prices are listed in the currency shown at checkout.

The final amount charged may vary depending on taxes, exchange rates, payment processor fees, bank fees, or international card charges.

The store is not responsible for currency conversion fees or bank charges imposed by the customer’s financial institution.

## 18. Taxes

Applicable taxes may be calculated and charged at checkout depending on the customer’s location, the product type, the sales platform, and legal requirements.

Customers are responsible for any taxes, duties, or import charges not collected at checkout.

## 19. Account and Access Responsibility

Customers are responsible for keeping their purchase receipt, download link, account login, and email address secure.

If you lose access to your download, contact us using the email address associated with the purchase.

We may ask for proof of purchase before reissuing access.

## 20. Abuse, Fraud, and Misuse

We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, refund, or block orders if we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, chargeback misuse, harassment, unauthorized file sharing, policy violation, or unlawful activity.

We also reserve the right to limit support or refuse future service to customers who abuse staff, misuse digital products, or violate intellectual property rights.

## 21. Availability and Product Changes

Products may be changed, updated, removed, retired, discounted, bundled, or replaced at any time.

We may correct errors in product descriptions, pricing, file details, images, or availability.

If an error materially affects an order, we may cancel the order and issue a refund.

## 22. No Professional Advice

The products sold through this store are literary, personal, artistic, educational, or expressive works.

They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, psychological, therapeutic, or emergency advice.

Readers are responsible for their own interpretation and use of the material.

## 23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Seller, author, publisher, and related parties are not liable for indirect, incidental, emotional, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from the purchase, reading, use, inability to access, or interpretation of any product.

Our maximum liability for any order is limited to the amount paid for that order, except where prohibited by law.

## 24. Platform-Specific Terms

Purchases made through third-party platforms may also be subject to that platform’s own terms, payment rules, refund procedures, privacy practices, and technical limitations.

This may include Shopify, Gumroad, Lulu, payment processors, email platforms, or fulfillment providers.

Where platform rules apply, they may affect delivery, refunds, replacement eligibility, access, or dispute handling. Where a platform’s process governs a remedy (for example, print-on-demand defect resolution), that process determines the available options and timelines.

## 25. Governing Law

These policies are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, except where a mandatory consumer protection rule of the customer’s jurisdiction applies instead.

Nothing in these policies removes statutory rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Any disputes should first be raised by contacting [Hello@thehalfopendoor.com](mailto:Hello@thehalfopendoor.com) so we can attempt to resolve the issue informally.
